If you don’t know the name Tim Ferriss by now, you should read The 4-Hour Workweek. If you already know who Tim Ferriss is, then why haven’t you read this book?
The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich should be required reading for anyone who can read.
That might sound like a bit of hyperbole, and maybe it is. But it’s not too far off.
The 4-hour Workweek isn’t literally about getting people to work only four hours each week. Though the book does present how that is possible.
But rather, the Tim Ferriss explains how to work more efficiently. The four hour work week is the definition of how to work smarter not harder.
In fact, according to many interviews Tim Ferriss has given, The 4-Hour Workweek wasn’t even his first choice for a title. However he found through research that the title resonated best with his target audience and had the best chance for success. Tidbit: the working title for the book was Drug Dealing for Fun and Profit.
The 4-Hour Workweek is a book about getting the most out of your work. How to work more efficiently to get the required results. How to be location independent. How to live the life you want without work holding you back.
Tim uses more hyperbole in the book than I did when I suggested it should be required reading for anyone who can read. But much like my hyperbolic statement, Tim uses hyperbole effectively too. It is possible to follow his recipe to the teaspoon, but the results will be achieved better if you use the recipe as a guideline.
Not everyone can go from working their full time job at a desk to getting the job done in just 2 hours a day working from a beach. However, it is possible to make it work, and Tim provides examples of how people have done it.
Who is this book for? Anyone who is currently working for the man and wants to be more effective. Anyone who is starting their own business and wants to know how to do it efficiently. And anyone who has their own business and needs some clarity.
The principals that Tim writes about can be applied to people who have full time jobs to people working for themselves. Want to start your own business? Tim’s principles will guide you. Want to start your own business while working a full time job? This is the book for you.
There is really no way to write about how important The 4-Hour Workweek is for everyone to read. It’s something you will just have to trust me on.
The book is an easy read. Tim is a good writer. At 416 pages, The 4-Hour Workweek is a little bit longer than I typically like at , but it was hard to put down once I got started. I think I finished the book in record time, because the writing, the ideas, and the applications are so engaging.
